This t-shirt was designed by artist Wes Antone, X.ex.elles, a respected Elder of the Kwantlen Nation. Wes chose to create the heron design for Ringette because to the Kwantlen the heron teaches patience: it stands and waits for just the
right moment to strike its prey. It can stand for a long, long time just waiting, knowing it has just one chance. It’s the same as in sports: athletes need patience and the ability to strike quickly.
A portion of proceeds from each t-shirt sold will be donated to the Ice Hawks, to support the development of the Indigenous ringette program in Skwá First Nation.
